Podsafe Music Network

i found out about podcasting a couple years ago from my pal Catfish when he began telling me about the shows he was listening to and how much he was enjoying this kind of radio.
now radio for me is a pleasure i haven’t before had much interest in. i travel quite a bit but i either like total silence or i listen to music on CD, i have an iPod but i’m still getting used to that idea (call me oldschool, right, let’s break out the vinyl! hard to listen to vinyl in my Jeep, btw).
i rarely ever listen to any kind of radio because i don’t like commercials and radio DJs that talk over the start or ending of a song drives me nuts.
radio talk shows (and teevee talk shows) have always confused me because it’s like listening to a conversation you’re not a part of. like eavesdropping. its like having someone talk to you but you don’t respond, you just listen and listen and listen and… i dunno. weird.
for the record, i find blogs weird too. it’s a catch-22 because i keep somewhat of a blog and love that people read it, but i find it strange to read other people’s blogs. like i’m reading their diaries even though they are public and posted for people to read them. do you see where i’m going here?
i know people like radio shows and enjoy the wit and commentary. my dear soulmate does and he tells me all about these crazy shows he listens to. cool. okay. it makes his day enjoyable and that is a good thing. because of him and Catfish i’ve slowly started to explore more and more this kind of talk radio and podcasting to try to understand it. i know this must make no sense and i probably sound like a nut, which is nothing unusual.
so anyway. Catfish kept telling me about some new podcast he’d listen to and then started talking about how he’d like to do his own podcast (i really hope he doesn’t mind me yakkin’ about him here). when he expressed his desire to join the podcasting world i really started to take a closer look at it simply because i wanted to support him and learn more about it.
podcasting is a great idea and the more i delve into it the more i am beginning to understand people’s fascination for talk radio. and i think for people that are wanting to get into radio podcasting is such a golden avenue, it’s allowing people to harness their own creativity and share it worldwide without the umbrella of big corporation. i love it. i love the freedom of the expression that podcasting embraces, and i love how these internet venues like the podsafe music network, myspace, and soundclick and the like are bringing the world together through music and talk.
back to podcasts… it is still a new thing for me to get used to listening to people just talk at me, but people are funny and enjoyable. the ideas and subjects that folks come up with crack me up and it has really started to expand my understanding of humanity, it’s organic and fascinating. it’s like live blogging perhaps.
The Podsafe Music Network i have only just heard about, Catfish suggested to me that it would be a good idea to put some of my music up there to make available for podcasters. well, okay. i checked it out and discovered what an awesome venue this is for musicians, especially for the underground folk like myself. what a great opportunity! this is territory i had not even thought of for my own music, which seems ridiculous because, um.. DUH. radio and music. why didn’t i think of that?
so i did. my music is up (see link in sidebar) and if you’re a podcaster, grab what you like and have fun with it.
already i’ve been picked up by two shows, and as my music is played i’ll post links to the podcasts that have played me so you can listen to them.
Dalecast - out of Fosterly, Weardale in the UK . DJ Steve features the latest and greatest rockin’ music from the Podsafe Music Network.
Dalecast on Podsafe Music Network (Steve played my song “I Want To Be Wonder Woman” on programme 144 - near the beginning.)
Diva Knitting Podcast - a podcast about knitting, yarn, spinning, and fiber addiction. Ohio, USA
Diva Knitting on Podsafe Music Network (Cheryl played my song “I Want To Be Wonder Woman” on her very first podcast called “Pinky and Hippo”, at the end of the show.)
what i like about Dalecast is that this is straight-up music from all over the world, that’s all. Steve introduces bands, plays their music, rock on. awesome. a great place to discover new music, and what a fantastic service he is doing for these bands and musicians to get their music heard. thank you, Steve!
the knitting podcast. is. hilarious. Cheryl has a great excited vibe and her idea for this show (which has a “sit and chat and tell stories”, aka “stitch-n-bitch” feel) is awesome. i know nothing at all about knitting and yarn and this crafty art, but i enjoy knitted socks and sweaters very much so i found her show fascinating. just listen, i had no idea people were so addicted to knitting. being a quilter i can relate (i am hopelessly addicted to fabric, bet ya didn’t know that).
thank you, Cheryl, best to you in your new knitting podcast adventure. cheers to rockin’ knitters! too freakin’ funny.

Thanks so much for listening to my show even though you’re not a knitter! If a non-knitter can make it through it can’t be too awful
I love your Wonder Woman song and look forward to checking out more of your work.
You wouldn’t believe how much addiction there is to knitting…since you quilt you can definitely relate. If you search for knitting in the podcasts there are LOTS…and if you search for knitting blogs, well you wouldn’t believe! It’s crazy. BTW, if you like mine, try Lime and Violet sometime. Talk about hilarious. They TRULY are.
Rock on!
hey Em, i have absolutely no problem with you “yakkin” about me … just as long as for each story you tell, you must put a link to my site in your post - lol.
just kiddin’.
just posted in my twitter about another podcast. i think you might like this one. its called Dry Shave. http://dryshave.blogspot.com. on their site they describe the show as … “a medley of thoughts and impressions published by two satirical freelance public broadcasters.” i think they are married, but not sure. the girl does the more introspective posts, and the guy tells stories & sometimes interviews people. all brought together with music & the occasional sound clip. check it out if ya get a chance.
take care.
dryshave is bizarre. dude.
i listened to the feline episode, funny as hell. the meowing kitty soundtrack kept making me laugh, “you’re my little meow meow” is a riot.
oh and the monkey episode… so wrong. so very very wrong.
yea - the monkey episode is pretty messed up, but thank god his friend didn’t go through with it. its an interesting show though. never know what to expect.
Many thanks for the comments in your blog! Will give your tunes more playtime.
